This program was written due to our dissatisfaction with current products on the market, and the incredible problems we had configuring them on Windows 2000. In fact, all told, we spent about the same amount of time doing administration on the product we bought as we did authoring the Lisp-based version--it took about a week to get it up, and another week to make it faster than the other version we had been using.

03 Jul 2003 - version 1.1.4 - Fixed bug in free disk space reporting. Added an auxiliary read/write access list. Improved interoperability with some clients. Added new config variable for altering mode bits. Added new config variable for interoperability with Microsoft's Services for Unix.
21 Mar 2003 - version 1.1.3 - Fixed up remaining case mode issues in the source code. Enhanced error handling in nfsd-read.
23 Jan 2003 - version 1.1.1 - Added access control and command line switches for adding and removing the NFS service (see ChangeLog).
23 Sep 2002 - version 1.0.36 - Fixed some bugs (see ChangeLog) and added binary distribution.
27 Feb 2002 - version 1.0.33 - initial release.

Platform

Tested on a fully patched Allegro Common Lisp 6.2 on Windows 2000. Should work on Windows 95 OSR2 and up. It no longer works on previous versions of Allegro CL.

Building

The instructions for building the Allegro NFS Server from source are located in the file readme.txt.

Dependencies

This project uses the ntservice package, which is only needed if building from source.
Linux NFS client NOTE: some versions of linux have NFS bugs that affect interoperability with Allegro NFS Server. We recommend using linux kernel version 2.4.20 or higher.

The Allegro NFS Server source code is licensed under the terms of the Lisp Lesser GNU Public License, known as the LLGPL. The LLGPL consists of a preamble and the LGPL. Where these conflict, the preamble takes precedence. Allegro NFS Server is referenced in the preamble as the LIBRARY.

The Allegro NFS Server binary code version 1.x (previously available at this site as aNFSd 1.x) is licensed under the terms of the Franz Binary Freeware License.
